3 days old: All pups are docked and dews removed by my vet.
Weeks 0-3: Mom and pups spend every minute together. We are in the whelping box several times a day making sure every pup has time with mom to nurse.
Week 4: Pups will have their first meal, puppy food with warm water to make it softer. The first feeding is usually a messy one, they play with the food more then eat it. Everyday they get better at eating and before long they are eating just puppy food. We feed our puppies Diamond Puppy Food. Be sure to have a bag of this food at home for your new puppy to eat before you come bring him/her home. We buy it at Fleet Farm. Week 5: Pups are eating puppy food now very well. All of our pups are free fed, meaning that pups have a full dish of food all the time. Puppy should be free fed for his/her whole life. Puppy is also dewormed at this age. We use Panacur C liquid, it is given for 3 day in a row.
Week 6: Pups go to the vet for their puppy check-up's. They also receive their first puppy shot at this age. They will need their next puppy shot 3-4 weeks from this day.
Week 7: Puppy is ready to leave our home now.
Week 8: Puppies going out of state can be shipped at this age. Pups can start heartworm preventive now.
Week 9: Puppy should have his/her second puppy shot now. Puppy should be dewormed again.
Week 12: Puppy should have his/her last puppy shot now. Next shot should be give one year from now.
Week 16: Puppy can have his rabies shot now.
